Prince Albert of Monaco II Foundation Climate Change Masters Scholarships in UK, 2018

The University of Edinburgh in UK invites applications for the Prince Albert of Monaco II Foundation Climate Change Masters Scholarships for 2018/2019 academic year.

Seven Masters Scholarships are available to applicants enrolled on eligible online distance learning programmes offered by the University in the 2018-2019 academic session.

Worth of Award

• Each scholarship will cover the full fees relating to the Postgraduate Certificate in Climate Change Management.
• For successful recipients studying towards the MSc Carbon Management programme, the scholarship will cover the Postgraduate Certificate in Climate Change Management  component of the masters programme.

Eligibility

• The scholarships will be awarded to students who are accepted for admission on to the PgCert Climate Change Management (online) or MSc Carbon Management (online).
• The scholarship will be awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level or the international equivalent.
• Priority will be given to applicants from those nations most at risk from climate change and who are deemed to have the greatest potential to tackle climate change in their home country:

Applications are invited for scholarships for MSc and PhD in Railway Engineering at Addis Ababa University for the 2018-2019 academic year. African Railway Center of Excellence (ARCE) is one of the African Center of Excellence II projects supported by the World Bank.

The aim of the centre is to strengthen railway professionals’ development through short-term training, MSc and PhD level education, and research in Ethiopia and the region at large.

Addis Ababa University (AAU), which was established in 1950 as the University College of Addis Ababa (UCAA), is the oldest and the largest higher learning and research institution in Ethiopia. Since its inception, the University has been the leading centre in teaching-learning, research and community services.

Scholarship Description:

• Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue PhD and MSc programmes.
• Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Railway Engineering specializing in “Civil Infrastructure”, “Rolling Stock” and “Traction and Train Control” for the 2018/19 academic year.
• Scholarship Award:

1. Type A. Full Scholarship: Covers monthly stipend (USD800 for PhD students and USD600 for MSc students), tuition fee, health insurance and
   transportation cost.

1. Type B. Half Scholarship: Covers monthly stipend (USD400 for PhD and USD350 for MSc) and tuition fee.
2. Type C. Part Timer Scholarship: Covers tuition fee only.
3. Type D. Self-Sponsored Students: Student should cover all the expenses.

Entrance Requirements: Applicants have to:-

1. Have completed their last degree less than six years ago during the time of application
2. Be Citizens of African countries
3. For MSc applicants: Applicants should have Bachelor’s degree qualification with at least a CGPA of 3.00/4.00 for males and 2.5/4.00 for females (grading shall be converted to 4.00 scales).
4. For PhD applicants: Applicants should have MSc degree qualification with at least a CGPA of 3.50 for males and 3.25 for females (grading shall be converted to 4.00 scales).
5. The applicant should write a personal statement/motivation letter describing the candidate`s interest to join the program.
6. The applicant should have two letters of recommendations of advisors/ supervisors from previous educational institutions.
7. PhD applicants should submit the research proposal including a detailed work plan.
8. Female candidates and candidates from underprivileged regions or groups as well as candidates with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.

English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

About scholarship

Students who will enroll in their respective programs for the first time of the 2017 – 18 Fall semester, may apply for scholarship opportunities.

Benefits

100 % or 50 % tuition fee scholarship opportunities are available for new students from Turkey and other international students in the PhD programs.

100 % and 50% tuition fee scholarship is available for new students from Turkey and 50% tuition fee scholarship is available for other international students in the Master’s programs.

Eligibility

• International students can apply for 100% and 50% scholarships for PhD programs and 50 % scholarship in Master’s programs.
• Turkish Republic citizens can apply for 100% and 50% scholarships for Master’s and PhD programs.
• Students who have registered with special or visiting student status are not eligible to receive this scholarship.
• Must meet the minimum requirement 3.00 (out of 4.00) or higher undergraduate graduation CGPA.

The departments will rank the applicants based on their departmental assessment criteria (not only CGPA). The department may grant 100% scholarship to one applicant or up to two 50% scholarships to two applicants.

The results will be announced according to the scholarship calendar (see below). The shortlisted candidates are required to complete their registration by the working hours of deadline which is given in the table below. Otherwise, they will lose their scholarship and second list will be announced.

TR nationalmaster’s program candidates

The evaluation criteria for TR national master’s program candidates will be as follows:

Minimum requirement to be considered for 100% and 50% scholarship is 3.00 (out of 4.00) or higher undergraduate graduation CGPA.

International master’s program candidates

The 50% scholarships for international students who will enroll in a master’s program will be announced after the acceptance decision is made to the program. This scholarship information will appear in the letter of acceptance for the program.

Category ‘E’ Research Assistant Position: In accordance with Article 4(5) of the ‘Research Assistant Appointment and Postgraduate Scholarship Regulations’, students who are granted with 100% scholarship are appointed as ‘Category E Research Assistant’. These students are expected to undertake duties for 5 hours per week at academic units or, if deemed necessary, administrative units.

In cases, where the student is appointed from other research assistant category position, he/she can keep 100% scholarship (Category E research assistant position) until he/she resigns, on the condition that he/she still satisfies the continuation of the %100 scholarship.

Students who are granted with 50% scholarship are not assigned as Category E Research assistant. In cases, where the student is also appointed as part-time research assistant, he/she has to choose one of the scholarships.

Conditions for the Cancellation / Termination of Scholarship

(a) requirements of a scholarship/discount not being fulfilled,
(b) cancelling registration from the University or failing to renew one’s registration,
(c) engaging oneself in an action that is accepted as a disciplinary offense which results in the termination of the scholarship/discount.
